Isle Of Man & Cape Breton Trivia!

Back in 2006, we were contracted to produce and present an Isle Of Man TT Race in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. After visiting the IoM and watching how it was done, we spent almost a year building it. Our Director of Safety – Wayne Pollock – RIP and his Assistant – Tim Dale spent days driving the 35 mile long route indentifying the over 500 intrusions onto the course from laneways plus the ditches and culverts that would have to be covered. Our Event Operations Manager – Paul Walter, then and still a critical part of IMSA’s Race Operations Team – created an inch thick Operations Manual that described in minute detail all of the necessary steps – safety and operational that would be implemented. We created a CMA-affliated motorcycle club – the ‘Mile High Motorsport Club’ – to be the organizing club of record. We had insurance, sponsors, over 5000 room nights already booked (without any promotion)……and then the government decided to call an election the same month the event was going to run. They decided to bail out and write off their investment to that point and what would have been North America’s first and only motorcycle TT in partnership with the Isle Of Man – was gone. Peter Dale, Peter Manganelli and Dorothy Manganelli, Ronald Woltman, Dr Steve Harrison, Tim Dale, John Graham and many others were left to imagine what might have been.
