Lombardy Karting Association seeks new leadership
Gord Costello was instrumental in establishing the Lombardy Karting Association and running the group and its races for the past eight years. Now Costello is stepping down.
“It’s time for new blood to take over,” Costello said. “Our numbers were down last year. We need some fresh leadership to keep it going.”
The Lombardy Association is non-profit, family-oriented and volunteer-run, staging go-kart races at it’s dedicated track at the Lombardy Fair Grounds, Highway 15, southwest of Smiths Falls, Ontario. The go-karting is open to age seven and up with separate races for different age groups and weight classifications. The races are sanctioned by ASN Canada, the governing body of motorsport in Canada.
Costello explained that everything necessary to run the races is in place for 2018 including plenty of good people and sponsors willing to help out.
“We just need a few more people to take on the leadership and organization at the track. They don’t have to be racers to do this.”
